Making the most of it.

Quote: Yes, it can...more likely to happen if there's poop tho.
Don't think wetting would make it easier, someone to hold him while you part the feathers all over the body to see skin is the way to go.
Hard to do alone, more hands the better, cover his head/eyes with a towel can really help calm them down.

Odor is not coming from his beak/nostrils is it? Certain respiratory illness has a distinctive odor there from what I've read.

Thank you Aart. It he odor is coming from his body... Smells like garbage. I will try to talk the hubby into helping me. I think he will be fine if I'm the one poking and prodding. He is kind of scared of the birds. If he can't, I will call Tessa to come help. I read if they have fly strike that the maggots would float in the water. I will leave that as a last option. Ohh the joys of chicken husbandry.

Might be easier to get him off the roost at night...when all those boys are home to help...he'll be calmer once you cover his eyes, even better if you have a headlight to wear while looking.

. Haven't been able to get up and out of bed.... My eyes... My nose... My throat and chest.. Uggghhhh poor DH is stuck doing what needs to be done instead of me... The boys say they are starving cause they have to make sandwiches lol. Such is life but my oldest made me a pot of coffe the other morning and brought me a cup. A man that can make coffe is a keeper so I'm happy. Good job Michael!!! Gonna eat something and snuggle with the pups hope everyone is well

Hope you feel better soon! It will be good for the boys to be self-sufficient for a few days, they will appreciate you even more. Stay well hydrated, even if you don't feel like drinking water. Tea with lemon and honey would be good, too.

Hang in there!

Thank you. I have been drinking Luke warm water and Luke warm coffee... Hot makes me feel like I can't breath and cold makes the phlegm thicken... Maybe I need beer

lol just kidding. Hopefully this won't last long!!!

Just went outside to hang with the birds.. They ran out to me since I have been layed up... I gave them a little treat and did a little cough and it felt like some one was stabbing me in the chest!!!! Back in bed. Tomorrow, tomorrow will be better....

It always surprises me how much dogs really know. Oly girl has kept by my side today. Every time the rooster crows, Oly looks outside to make sure everything is fine than crawls back up to me and licks my face and hugs me with her paws. Normally she would run through her doggie door and patrol the premise but she is worried. So blessed to have my best friend.
