You're right to keep a hold of yours until you are sure about them. I sold the twin of this boy a month or two ago for $5, and I would probably shell out a lot more than that to get him back! From now on, I'm keeping th ebest, selling a couple of the second-best, and holding on to the rest for a while longer!

Asking others to put a value on birds is tricky, because of everyone's financial priorities and capabilities. Tell your friend to stay away from culls if he wants to be serious about breeding good birds. They may be cheap to buy, but they cost the same to feed, and getting rid of the baddies is time consuming. If he's too impatient to wait for yours to grow up, remind him of how long it will take to breed something decent out of culls! Not saying that the ones he's considering buying are bad. All I've seen is the one pic. They may be marvelous.

yeah thats what I've told him...if he listens will see... He told me today when I told him I hadn't decided on mine yet.. "well if their pure serama he'll still have some good babies" I was like yeah maybe but he may have some major flaws he passes on to all of them too.. Plus I may keep one of these to replace the ones I use now depending on how they fill out.. so far their looking promising

he's nice!! Yeah I know what ya mean, I've had a few that I thought wasn't goin to be much then all of a suddent they "blossom" lol

I don't know how you guys stand it, I'm so impatient. FEATHER OUT ALREADY!!! DO YOUR LITTLE POSE!!! NOW NOW NOW.
*sigh*
Of course, the chickens then look at me like I'm crazy...
My big fat fatty cheese eater roo is looking better these days, now that his top tail feathers grew in...The neighbor dragged out his lawnmower, and "Jorge" (I didn't name him) stood up, and his neck touched his tail. I was like...sweet, you're fat, but at least you aren't completely a loss. xD hehe

I have one younger bird who def is a cull, even I can tell, and I think he knows it...he spends his time up in my face whenever I go to see the younger seramas. Other than that, I guess I'm playing the six month + waiting game...even though it's clearly going to drive me nuts. I've got a few with really beautiful colored feathers, but that doesn't count for much if they turn out to have horrible form...

I always clap beside the cage to tell potential. It gets them riled up enough. The babies anyway. There's nothing in the3 world that frightens my Roo. I even run at him and he just stands there and side steps me.

Did your friend make a decision about buying those birds?

I'm probably going, but again, it's the weekend before finals (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and ....I think.....that I'm maxed out on chickens!!! Unless they lay golden eggs and sing me to sleep every night, I think I'm done for awhile.

Unless they happen to be a future epic black silky or frizzled female for my little blue guy....maybe....Lol.
