I also note the different classes - which class seems to be the most common - hardy - friendly - or really is it jsut a matter of size? Sorry with all the questions - learning about them! LOL

They aren't flighty but they are good flyers. I have clipped wings and it didnt really help. Try frizzled or silkied birds if you want to keep them on the ground.

Mine are good flyers but they are tame enough that I can let them loose outside and they don't run off. As far as size popularity goes the A's seem to be what people go for, but with that comes health problems and delicatness. I have found that a nice B sized bird gives good fertility and has fewer problems than an A bird. Also on the wing clipping, if you ever want to show you can't clip any feathers. That is a dq for show. The bird has to be tame enough to stay on the table on its own and if it does fly away it is also dq'd

Thanks i would want them to be somewhat free range - but have an enclosed coop - so you are saying this is possible with these birds - tame and want to stick close to home kind of thing?

I would at least have some kind of fence. They are so small that cats could kill and eat them pretty easily. You'll also want to make sure they are trained to go inside to roost so you don't find them on trees and such

I have three 1 year old hens - probably C class, maybe even D - but have decided I want more of these little sweethearts! I've been buying eggs (A & B class) from different places and have 8 in the incubator right now, with 32 more on the way

I'm excited that I will most likely get some frizzled and silkied from the bunch

I am hoping to get a couple trios or quads going so I can have my own eggs to hatch eventually. This is the first time I've ever wished for roosters lol.

So basically everyone that has these lil guys keeps them mostly in an enclosed runs and coops? Just for safety measure? I would be nervous of them trying to roost in trees and me not getting them in! Easy target for an owl ! yikes hmmmmm

Here are a couple of updated pictures taken today. First are a couple of six/seven week old pullets, aren't they just gorgeous!! The second picture is my four week olds, have a rainbow of colors in this group, unfortunately most are cockerels and will be rehomed. Anyone looking!!
