Yes CTchickenmom I bring mine in over the winter. They just don't seem to do tooo well with the cold winters we get here in minnesnowta

If you did keep them in an outdoor coop you would need to put at least a heat lamp out there. The combs are the first to suffer in the cold.

Thanks Chickenaddict...don't quite know how to tell DH that we're going to have chickens living in the house during the winter!

I'd want to build a nice indoor coop for them so that they had plenty of space. Maybe I could revamp a tall book case into multiple levels or even a corner curio. Oh...idea

how about an armoir with the wood doors replaced with screen doors? Time to put Serama's on the list.

I think I've showed these to you before, Chris, but I think they are hilarious!!! I got these white seramas from Liana in Terrell.

I love the armoire idea or even an entertainment center (freebies on craigslist) I have thought about making another indoor coop out of an armoire myuself but I haven't found the right freebie yet. It doesn't take much to please them. I have 8 in a 5 ft by 3 ft indoor coop, another 3 in a large rubbermaid tub (with the lid off) above the other coop, another trio in a 2 by 4 indoor coop and 2 new pullets in a large dog kennel. The office is full of birds lol

That's funny. Looks like you wait until they are sleepy to get them to be so cooperative?
Reminds me of my Cockatoo on his roller skates.

I finally found my scale and weighed Peanut last night.
He's 160 grams @ 14 weeks of age. (13 weeks in the photo)

If you want to give your birds a real treat, grow them some Rye.
Mine go absolutely gaga over it.

OK...I'm not selling...but I could be, so I want to get a feel for how many birds I would be able to sell. I have a pair my kids picked up from Jerry S. that are laying like crazy. Well, we only need so many birds, but it seems a shame to let all these possilble show birds go to waste so I want to hatch them out, but I can only keep so many. I don't want to get full into selling Seramas and all that it includes...ie, shipping birds, packing eggs, etc... So, how many folks withing driving distance of central Ohio would be willing to purchase birds from me? Keep in mind, I will be selling these birds to cover their feed, not at all for profit...so maybe $10 ea or so for a 2 month old bird. Again, I'm just testing the waters, not taking orders, but my time to get the next dozen eggs in the bator is limited, so let me know what you think....this includes you folks from Indiana, Southern Michigan, Norhern Ky, etc...

THANKS!!!

I am in WV and am on the hunt for a chocolate roo. I understand Jerry has them... but doesn't have any available right now. I would probably drive to OH for a chocolate
