as always i have seen so many ppls buying eggs to hatch i for one think its a bad idea cause first of all most that i seen from hatch eggs and low grade seramas and are on the large size like Cs and Ds. I would say buying from a breeder and going to their places to look at a bird and picking some out is the best way not only that you can see the bird in its own environment that is how you get show birds but if you like breed out a lot of Cs and Ds then its up to you. When purchasing birds it's best to go to the breeder's home, and view the birds in their own environment. This way you can see the birds moving in a relaxed state and make better judgement. This is why i will never buy eggs cause i want to start from the best but thats just me cause i like to see the bird that are more of the Malaysian serama standard .

I second this...it's hard to always go and see birds at a breeder, plus I really think it depends on what you want Seramas for. I don't raise them for show so I love my C and D birds. Any chicks that I sell are sold as pet quality for people like me who enjoy the breed. I am not trying to perfect the breed, just get a nice small flock for my personal enjoyment.

This is how I feel about my seramas as well, though I do like having nice quality birds as well. I must confess, the most important thing to me in seramas is the colors. I love having all different colors! Anyone who is not at least decent quality doesn't stay in the breeding pen, but otherwise I keep the ones I particularly like regardless of type and sell the others to pet homes or 4H kids.

I really love all of my seramas, they are so wonderful and sweet. I'd love to have other serama fanciers over sometime to just visit my birds, haha! If anyone is up in northern California, you're all welcome to visit!
