The few times I've hatched them, the smaller eggs did hatch on day 19. My older 'babies' had some small and some big eggs hatch...the small ones hatched on 19 and the big ones on 21...all set at the same time.

All my 7 ( 5 now ) Serama eggs were all the same size. I'd say they're "Large" for Seramas -

Still waiting - maybe tonight??

Should I candle them tonight and see what I can see? Or "No Touchy?"

Mrs. FP, if today is day 18, I wouldn't touch them. It takes time for them to settle into position. To me, this is the hardest part. It would not surprise me if you got your first pips tomorrow. I have chicks hatch as early as day 18 but most have waited as long as day 20 or 21. Waiting is the hardest part!!!!

Hang in there.

Serama Genetics

What is dominant in the following traits?

1. Long legs or short legs

2. long back or short back

3. large size (C or D) or small size (A or B)

4. Horizontal wing or vertical wing

5. Big round breast or small flat breast

Do you sometimes see two traits always show up together?

If you had to relax on a trait (one or both pair missing something), what coud/would it be?

any other advice would also be appreciated

Thanks for your help!

I think he may have, perhaps removed a generation, though. (As in I think he may have been hatched from birds from Jerry.) Now I can't remember who came from where exactly! Anyway, he's a great guy. A little on the bigger end for a serama, but his offspring are nice and small generally, so I'm not complaining at all. He has such a wonderful personality--he doesn't mind being held one bit and he is so polite to his girls.
