Oh I am so proud of them. I just didn't want to be shot down for being overly proud! He made sure he explained to me just what their faults were. I just didn't want to put them out as some of his finest! I don't want to do him an injustice with showing off "his" birds when what he let me get were not show quality birds....not what he considers show quality anyway. Thank you so much! I am going to enjoy them for sure. Wonderful eye candy!

I do not know Grady but leg bands are used when I test a flock for the NPIP program in Va any ways Grady may participate in NPIP It may depend on what your state has for laws

they are some pretty birds BTW

We don't use legbands for npip here. The bands are SCNA bands and show they are Seramas from Grady's stock with the year of hatch on them. if you are sure you will NEVER sell them them, yeah take them off, if you might you may want to leave them on as proof of origination to a future buyer.

I forgot about those I have seen them offered over on the scna message board. thanks for reminding me.

Umm...for those of you more experienced then me (all of you!) my male and female Serama were fighting like crazy just a second ago. I assume it was so they could mate, but she fought back so hard and was getting bloody, so I separated them. Her tail was down and she was upset, he was upset and crowing like crazy after I took her out. Soooo is this them mating...or were they fighting? Should I keep her in there even when they are fighting? Thanks!

How old is she? I have a cockerel and hen that are the same age. He is really hormonal and ready to mate and she is not. They've gotten a little heated but he always backs down. I think I'd keep her out for a little while and watch them like a hawk if and when you put them back in together. If they are separate, maybe he's been overmating her and she's had enough.

I keep them in the house in my living room in a huge macaw cage with lots of perches...this has never happened, so they are not over mating. I am thinking he is ready and she is too young like you are implying. They are only 3 months old, I would think it is a bit young!?! Neither one seems to be backing down though, she is bigger then he is, by about 2 ounces, should I let them fight? As soon as I put her back in there he jumps on her, when I open the door she dives for it!!! I feel so bad but I don't know what else to do, my other male would for sure be all over her and I dont have another cage, I bought a 2nd to separate the 2 males! Uggggg!!! LOL I love them but I don't have time for this today!

Do you have a dog crate or wire cage that you could put the male in for awhile?

They can injure each other if they are really fighting. I had a young pullet grab a male the other day by his comb and she did not let go until I took her off him. He was bloodied and humilitated and much quieter the rest of the day.

Mine are about 7 months old and as far as I know she has yet to let him have any fun. So I'd say her age is your problem, or his problem. It's hard when they're in a cage. There is nowhere for her to get away. Can you get a mature hen from anyone?

Yeah, she had him by the comb, which worries me because he is going to be my sons 4-h bird (or one of them), and I don't want his comb messed up! He eventually got free and then grabbed her back by the neck. I have them calmed down a bit now and separated on different perches on opposite sides of the cage. He keeps eyeing her, but has not made any move to try and knock her off and fight again...I will let you know if he starts it up again! Thanks so much for your help! Oh and yes, we do have a kennel, and I could use it temporarily if need be, I just hate to do it!

I am a serama breeder in michigan but I don't have the best of quality birds. I have pet quality w/ some breeder quality. Send me a PM if you feel like it.
