Ok, got my hands on eggs, so any tips on incubating seramas well? I know they can be very hard to hatch but have had fab results on LF eggs last year. So, any dos and don'ts people?

(24 shipped and my two hens finally fell into lay late last week)

There are several breeds that resemble, in some ways, Seramas of various qualities. The ABA has a picture gallery that is very helpful in identifying different breeds and colors:

edit: you'll find Seramas under "non- standard breeds", where they belonged last month, but I hope they move them to "SCCL" soon!

they are some pretty birds BTW

We don't use legbands for npip here. The bands are SCNA bands and show they are Seramas from Grady's stock with the year of hatch on them. if you are sure you will NEVER sell them them, yeah take them off, if you might you may want to leave them on as proof of origination to a future buyer.

The SCNA bands also help determine the age of the bird since they are seamless and have to be put on before a certain age (think it's 12 weeks).

One thing you have to keep in mind is that the 'size' of a serama is based on the weight. My OEGB hens don't look any bigger than some of my serama hens but they outweigh them by at least 6-8 ounces.

I went and looked at the bands. They say SCNA and some numbers. A 10 which I guess would be the year and a three digit number and a "B" which I assume is the size?
