Small show at Green River in Kentucky today. Everyone who endured the cold soggy day deserves a medal! Here are the top placings in ABA and SCNA judging. Ladrifter won the SCNA best of Breed, and I need permission from him to show you guys the pic, but I'm sure I'll get it up soon!

Thanks for sharing everyone! I always enjoy seeing everyones Serama's whether they're loved pets or show winners. I bought a couple of Cara's lovely hens and she added a couple of pullets to the box so I'm really enjoying these new girls and the two pullets I got from Ruthless who is close enough for pick up. Each group is in their own quarantine areas for now which is fine since the pullets are about 3 months old they have plenty of time to settle in and finish maturing so I can evaluate them before choosing to breed them. I'm so glad there were more than 1 in each group so they won't be alone in their quarantine areas. The room above our garage is not a finished room so I'm using it for the ones from California till the nights here are not so cool and Ruth's girls have the garage, not much there besides stored "things". We haven't parked a car in there for years and it's been very handy for storage when we needed it.

I'm hoping to have partitions in my new cage by the time they're ready to come out with the others, whom I moved back into the barn with this latest cold snap. We have been bouncing from 80 degrees to 38 in 24 hours. They's all stopped laying and Truffles eggs did not hatch, I was so unhappy. It wasn't supposed to get quite as cold as it did and the hens were both in nest boxes and came out just long enough that the eggs chilled I think. You "think" you (I) have everything covered and still have stuff like this to happen. I have taken the eggs into the incubator/hatcher at 14 days but thought I'd let these 2 hens hatch them out themselves. They will get a rest and we'll try again. I've been having a time of it with moving them around so I think I'll keep the hens and roosters separate a couple weeks as they get used to the new cages then I'll make a plan and give each rooster a couple of hens.

I'm tickled pink to have these new hens/pullets. In a years time last year, every chick I hatched was a cockerel but Cici and my hen Dovey is tiny and doesn't lay at all. Dovey is quite the pet though and she get to stay with a rooster since she's got wonderful type and size so if she does get in the mood to lay an egg, well you know. She laid 5 eggs a year ago, only 1 survived past a couple days and that was Uno, who up and died at 5 weeks old and he was 0.6 ounces at that time.

We have 3 grandchildren here from Marlyland this week so I'll post photo's later. I have some Araucana eggs in the incubator that are pipping today so the grand kids, well 2 at least, will get to see the miracle of life

Tyler is just 6 months so if it can't go in his mouth, it's not that interesting,

Brianna LOVES the chickens

! She's 3 and wants some of her own but I don't think you can keep them at Naval base housing, poor baby. Our oldest grandson, Morgan, came with me to the post office to pick up the Serama's I got from Cara and he held the box all the way home and got to present them by opening the box and showing them to his little sister. Morgan is in Scouting and is so excited to share what he's learning here with his troop and friends in 2nd grade when he gets back home.

Well, the kids will be back soon, so I need to vacuum and do some laundry. I'll peek in when I have time but we're going fishin today.

Here he is, the big winner of yesterday's show. We have decided that we have no idea what color he looks closest to, but his sisters are approaching wheaten. It was hard to get pics of the birds without the lighting blurring everything, so the pic doesn't show all the different colors in this guy. He's an interesting guy, though!

HERES A NEWSY FLASH FOR ALL YOU SERAMA BYCers.......I know these guys can fly but HOLEY-MOLEY I had NO idea how far they could fly till this morning:eek:

My little 4 month old girl decide to "have a go" flying for whatever reason and flew [ I paced it off] 29 feet to land on the cinderblock wall in my backyard perimeter.
They REALLY can fly like hawks! Maybe she was doing her "feats of strength" to show off to all the other chickens
