Need to get a picture (camera is broken at the moment), but I currently have three silly broody hens raising a single chick! They all sit in a pile at night and then the chick peeks his head out of the pile. It's too adorable!

He looks like he got some chocolate gene in him, and I just have this feeling he's a rooster! I think he's going to be really pretty as he grows up. I just LOVE seeing serama chicks feather out, it's so much fun!

Nearly every single one of my serama hens is broody at the moment.

Seriously--something like eleven broody serama hens out of fourteen total serama hens!

Sticking eggs in the incubator from my tiny house pair today! I'm hoping to get even one or two chicks out of these eggs.

I'm looking at your "handle" . Do you have Phoenix chickens? I just happened to get a Golden Phoenix male today at our local Meet up. He came free with the Blue Cochin pullet I bought. He's very sweet, and LOVES my daughter. He kinda chose us, and I couldn't say no...... He's been our lap chicken for several hours now. He's about 8-9 weeks old?

I know nothing about Phoenix chickens, and I don't want to divert from the subject matter on this thread, but if you do have experience with them, please PM me, I'd love to learn some first hand info on this breed. I don't see an active Phoenix thread on BYC.

Thanks!

So we just spent the entire day figuring, imagining, calculating and estimating what to build, how to build and where to build the next phase of our chicken kingdom just for the Serama wing. We know about nothing more than we did before. f anyone ou there has some serama can you let me know or better yet post pictures of how your set up works? I am befuddled at best. I am concerned with security, safety, comfort, durability, ease of care and feedind, cleaning etc. You know...everything. I live in WA so preditors are a real threat, weather in the winter can get around 25 and summers, all three days about 85. I plan to keep the hens together if they get along. Have breeding cages of some kind, brooding cages, nesting cages, cages for chicks, at various ages, room for supplies etc.

If anyone has any bright ideas I could sure use them!

AND there were some CUTE Seramas at our meet up today too..... courtesy of "Chef Glenn"

How I managed to buy two chicks well actually only one, and the other was BOGOF, and not come home with a single Serama is beyond me.... Chef Glenn had a CUTE white pullet that might have matched great with my little Gordon.... but I have major "breeding" questions I need to research first... before I travel down that road.

I'm really easy on buying laying chickens.... All they need to be is cute.

Be sure to have somewhere warm or indoors for wintertime. From what I have heard, they are not cold hardy.

My 10-11 month old A class pullet layed her first egg on tuesday and another yesturday. Both were too small and one was shaped weird. Im hoping they'll get bigger. Heres a picture of her on a trip outside, i couldnt catch her after this photo untill my sister managed to grab her. Thank goodness she did. Needless to say she wont be going out again unless shes in a pen, lol.

Her name is Sugar Plum

I have to say i was at a show yesterday and what a joy it was to watch these lil ones get judged. The first one i saw was a lil cockerel the minute they put him on the table he stood up - puffed his chest out and crowed - the CUTEST thing i have ever seen. Clearly announcing his presence to the 100's of other chickens there that he had arrived. Such Bravado for a tiny lil guy

Were you in Greenville? If not, where was the show? There were 28 Seramas in Greenville yesterday, and Seramaland stole the show with a stable full of beauties!
