So my chickens have been working on the chocolate coloring....

My handsome little white roo with black spots and his cutie little black pullet with white spots... both decided that they were going to be chocolates today. They had the BEST time bathing in my brownest dirt. They are completely covered in brown dust. .... they are hardly recognizable.

I decided to fortify their coop, so I put them in a temp cage under my blueberry bush. They just had too much fun...

I guess I should let them out more often??? LOL.

I have bath day coming up, as my OEGB will be getting ready to show, so I will add them to the cleaning rotation then. It was just so funny, how could I intervene?? I should have snapped a pic.

I don't post on this thread too often but thought I would share the news of 2 of my Cockerels at the Feather Friends Poultry Show on April 30th 2011 in Columbus, IN in table top judging.

My Silkied Serama Cockerel (Frizz) got 1st and Champion Silkied. I got him from Liz Miller

and my other cockerel (Neillo) got Champion Cockerel and Reserve Champion of Show and I got him from Tim Randolph

So if I have birds that are the direct offspring of birds purchased directly from Jerry's, Seramaland and Bluegrass Seramas lines, how would I word that when people ask my bloodlines? I don't want to mislead people so I need to understand how to talk about the birds and their lines when asked. I've found it does make a difference when selling eggs when these names are mentioned, especially on BYC, so any help you can give would be appreciated.

It is not a good idea and is frowned upon to advertise specific bloodlines when you're selling unless someone asks. I didn't know the proper etiquette and had it posted on my site where mine were from but I had a breeder confront me about this and tell me what to do. It's basically because people will put a name with their birds to get more money out of them. I don't put names with my birds unless someone asks and I just tell them where I got my original stock. I put up pics of my birds and let the pics speak for the birds. In my opinion once you breed your first birds together that creates your own line because that original breeder didn't make the choice to breed those two birds together. Of course this is a very touchy subject and there are a lot of opinions on this topic.

Thank you. No I don't plan on advertising any bloodlines, but I have had people ask me about it so I was just curious what is the proper way to describe them. As far as I'm concerned, they are my bloodlines because I am breeding birds from several different lines so to speak. I have photos too and used them at our swap last weekend. It was a great selling feature

Hi there froggie, he is doing awesome! And so very handsome. He loves to pose, lol just not when I want him to. He has been joined by 3 new roosters and 4 new hens and a 4th rooster and two more hens are coming on Wednesday. All equally handsome (but don't let him hear that lol). I finally got my Silkied rooster and my frizzled rooster too

I'll see what I can do about some photos

How are all your babies doing? Sorry I haven't been around. I've been on the Oregon swap threads. We just had our big spring one Easter weekend and the fall one (in my home town) is already in the works. I baked 57 cheesecakes for the spring swap and I'm pretty sure the same expected for the fall one lol. I've been a bit busy lol

MY FOUNDATION STOCK CAME FROM !!!!!! I have bred them according to my program. All I am sayins is that if you have never bought bords from a breeder directly, you got them from someone who said they got them from someone else does not mean you have the origional breeders breeding unless they are physically wairing the bands from the said breeder!! some people are very sensative about this. Many top breeders give away CUL birds to famlies as pets, the family then decide to breed them saying they have seramas from so and so 's llines.
