I've been researching seramas for a couple of months and have not seen any of the good sarama breeders to sell their birds for less than $45 each. Even for their pet quality seramas. Occasionally I've seen some lucky people won a Serama for less from an auction on BYC from a good breeder, but not many.
The ad sounds too good to be true because of pricing and because of the quality and quantity he claims to be reducing.
I would not buy any seramas that I can't see a photo of, even from a good breeder. However, Im a purist so when I want a Serama, even a pet quality Serama it has to look like a serama and not a OEG or a mixed breed. Those are not seramas.
But if you're just looking for small chickens as pet and you don't care what they look like, then any small chickens would be fine, but I wouldn't refer to them as seramas.
My instinct is to buy from sellers I can trust and this guy doesn't sound trustworthy. Good chance you will be disappointed.
Good luck.

If youre looking for seramas, check the auction section of BYC. There are some nice ones up for auction and you maybe win some at very good prices. Most importantly you can see the photos of the birds you're buying.

Just posting some pics. Chicks from these birds to come soon. I do currently have 20 chicks from the Roo that is MIA!! by the way if you see this rooster or know of his location, he was stollen along with severall other seramas, aprox a month ago on april 15. It is a very sad thing, i loved having people come over to my home to look at my birds, but the system was abused, and my trust in the good of people has been lost!! Please dont PM with simpathy I know may out there who feel my suffering and i appreciate it, I want to keep my message box open incase soemone knows where my birds are. I will offer a cash reward, If the person who has my birds reads this If you return them to me I will not ask questions, I do have an idea of who did this I have birds Id nbr band, as well as many photos to ID my birds.

I just wanted some information on this ad, I thought it did not sound right. I am not really interested in these birds. Just that the ad sounded to good to be true kind of thing. I think these birds are nice looking but I don't have room for breeding. I mostly like the duel purpose birds. But need advice in case anyone I know wants to get these types of chickens. Thanks for all the help. Knowing that the person is not even using his own birds pictures makes me say no way.

Cara,
I know you wanted the sympathy withheld but how about the anger at people who would do this?

I live in a very rural setting and most people in my area would look at my Serama's and joke that they aren't good for eating or laying so no one I know would take them if I offered them for free but I still worry. I am at least 10 miles from the closest town so I'm considering only meeting people in town who want to buy locally rather than bringing them out here and it would cut down on the concern about bringing in disease too. I do know the anxiety of losing one to whatever (ie injury, loss, just being Serama etc) so I'm so sad for you but angry too. Have you considered a camera where people would enter to see them? The surveillance type might be overkill (might not) but the type my son uses to monitor wildlife before hunting season was fairly inexpensive and could be mounted in a spot that wasn't real obvious. It's all recorded with time and date on the photo's and video and is set off by motion detection onto a regular photo type memory card so a 24 hour set of photo's or video would be easy. Just put it where it can't be reached and out of sight so the intruders don't notice. Many also take night time pics and video that are as clear as day, my son's does and it's amazing how clear the deer photo's are, even when they're moving.

I'm like you, no pity please but I would definitely take my security to another level.

One a good note, the girls you sent me are thriving. Thank you so much! I got to spend time with them while I was on medical leave from work but they were already as sweet and friendly as could be. I did trade the 2 extra pullets you sent to a young man who was so excited to get a trio, he wanted Copper, the lil rooster I hatched this spring and they were the only ones I was ready to let go of since I actually have more girls than boys now. The weather has turned into "wonderful" from the stormy, cold windy spring into just wonderful and they are out of quarantine and into their 3 by 6 foot pen outside in a raised run just outside of my bedroom windows. They don't have a rooster in with them yet so they can finish maturing but they have the 2 girls I got from ruthless and Cici who needed a break. One of your girls and one of Ruthless's girls are nearly identical,

They are all lovely and when you have time, I'd love to know more about their background so I can choose which rooster for them.

I'm pretty sure the lil Frizzled chicks are both pullets

making it much harder to part with them....

at least at this time. They are both small but one even smaller than the other. The larger one is really curly already, so cute. I decided today that I'm going to have to keep them a while. They will be a totally separate breeding pen so I can keep track of what may carry the gene. The smallest seems to be more typey so far. I need to take photo's today while it's so pretty out.

Man that really sucks cara. I feel so sorry for your lost. Some ppl or ppls are just bad news and I really love that color of that coco pop rooster you lost he is in my eyes one of the best color i've seen. I was going to breed his son to the daughter of my coco pop but I had to sell most of joey coco pop line so I have abandon the cocopop breed for now cause of my work but I feel for you cause i know how much you love that rooster and i hope who ever took him from will return him to you safe and sound cause you are a true animal lover

Froggie, I remembered that one particular pic cuz this one person in our area was using it to sell his birds to me for 250$. He sent me that picture when I asked him for pic of his availability.

I think this guy might be the culprit to Cara's missing bird after she told me all the names who came to her place.

Cara, you know who I am talking about!!!!Nice looking boy you have there.....sorry for your loss girl.
