OHMYGAWD .......has he changed colors! Dina still looks the same but Zephers' colors...now I understand you never know what your going to get colorwise till they are grown up. It has been SO much fun watching Zepher go from that ADORABLE little fuzzy-butt to this handsome roo!

OK_Junebug is a breeder in OK and she has beautiful silkied seramas. I got a couple from her and they are beautiful.
My avatar is a cockerel I got from her

You won't be able to tell the quality of a Serama by looking at an egg or chick. Pretty birds can produce mediocre chicks just as easily as they can produce the next national champion. You may get lucky, but your chances of being happy with your purchase is better if you buy older birds. For example, these two pullets have the same father, and when they were chicks, I couldn't tell them apart. Since then, one has won BB or RB several times and the other is a givaway pet.

Because while both share the same DNA, the genes are expressed in different ways. Just like in people, horses and other animals, just because they are full siblings don't mean they look alike. That's the big thing with horses........bloodlines sell, but while one horse may be a national champion, his full sibling may be nothing but a backyard puke. It's also the same reason why clones of a certain animal don't always look identical in markings.

Dina is from you as well as 2 of my younger pullets and roo in the flickr set. The others ones from you were rehomed during our swap in April. They are just as beautiful

Zephyr is from Pamperpoultry, my silkied and my frizzled Serama roos and mille fleur colored pullet are from Chickenzoo. Napoleon is from a friend in Portland (newtochick) and the rest I acquired through that same friend from a breeder in Portland.

Just got back from a show, the only place my birds get weighed, and Luna shrank from 11.1 oz. to 10.5 oz.! She is now retired until I can find a couple of 10g. legbands!
