I've seen many pictures of the 2 and thought they were the same! I LOVE my Japanese Bantams. My hen is now broody

I love her. So They are practically the same right?

I finally got to move my Serama pair outside yesterday evening. It was MUCH nicer having the roo outside when he decided to throw his daily fit! He sounds like a hen with a crazed egg song! And he gets EVERYONE else going too!

When the weather cools off again, I may just have to move the pair's giant cage into one of my big coops and give them a heat lamp! I don't know if I can stand having him back in the house EVER again!!!

Someone in my area is posting a Serama pair, and I was a little uncertain as to the quality, especially at that price:

What do you guys think? The picture included makes it really hard to tell anything, like size or chest/back/tail shape. Also, they just look so very much like the OEGBs I've seen posted on CL lately, I'm dubious...

Laigaie, I would ask for more pictures and ask for pictures of the parents. Ask the origin of the eggs or the parents if they have them.

$20-$25 each is an ok price for our area if they are full Serama and have decent parents. The pic if very poor.

Don't buy them just because they are the first ones available near you. There will be some soon that will be just right for you.

Also you may want to ask what size they are, like have one of them in someone's hand if they can't weight them.

Also ask if they are used to being handled.

That is an awful picture. They look GIGANTIC to be 3 months old.

Here are two of mine that are 2 months old. The parents are on the left. To get an idea of the size, that is 1/2" hardware cloth behind them.

I have fifteen serama chicks that are almost a month old now, they're so cute! I'm really thankful that I have these guys, because I lost three seramas to a raccoon about a week ago. One of them was one of my original trio of seramas, and the best mother hen you could ever ask for... RIP, Splash, and RIP, Nutmeg and Tawny. It also got my butterscotch call drake Fakir, my rouen drake Albert, and four of my five coturnix.

Thankfully, everyone else is doing well, and it's fun watching these fifteen growing up and changing colors all the time.

Here's my first Serama chick in a while. I think they're finally settling in to their new pens and with the new pullets. I'm not getting a lot of eggs yet but it's fairly steady, or was until the temp hit 96 degrees,
hmm.png

I have a dozen in the incubator. I am still waiting on this goofy but sweet Silkie hen to go broody but nuthin
roll.png

A sweet black chick by T-Roo and the hen is either Truffles or Bugsy. If it's a cockerel, I'll keep him to breed to Truffles. Since I hadn't separated these girls, it could be a black/split for chocolate if it's Truffles.

Picked up a $25 7ftx7ftx6ft high dog kennel today at a garage sale on Sunday. Put it up and thought it was good to go for the 8 serama chicks I till have for during the day. Came it and ate dinner and looked back out from the window and all 4 girls and the smallest boy Lil Dude were out wandering the yard
roll.png
They squeezed through the tiny crack by were the gate is. More work to be done

I hope my friend contacts me soon... No more hatching until I get rid of 2 of the 4 boys. She wont answer calls, call back or respond to emails!!!!!
