I'm loving my frizzled roosters. My smooth became a rooster too though gosh darn it. *frustrated* I was going to pair it up with one of the boys. Guess that can't happen!!!! XD My smooth started off solid white and has slowly turned TAN. Craziest thing. Chest seems to be staying white, but back is turning the tan color.

Oh and the frizzles look a little battered because I have them in a wire cage trying hard to keep them cleaner and they drag their wing feathers a bit. As you can see by their feet it barely helps!! Gosh darn you. ARGH

some of us line breed... so pairing off a rooster with two or three daughters is important to get what we want to accomplish...

L&Schickens :

I use to have a lot of them, but now not so many. I moved and had to sell off most of my birds. But I kept some!!
Here are some I have now. Goldie and Baby Sarge hached their first clutch ever this year. They are 7 years old, so it was amazing that Goldie finally decided to sit. They have 7 babies. All the eggs she had hatched.

THe hens don't get worn out so fast this way. Roosters of many breeds really like to mate often and it can just exhaust a hen or totally wear feathers off of the hen after awhile.
I use 2-3 hens to give the hens a better life in my eyes. The rooster also usually appreciates having a choice of 2-4 ladies. That way usually one that is willing to put up with mating more frequently.
