This is pretty crazy, but does anyone have a smooth serama rooster for sale? My flocks are too closely related and I need a different rooster to bring in some new blood. Thanks

Bobby, she is probably using pine pellet bedding... My only word of advise on that is please be careful and really smell it before using it. I switched to it wanted to cut down on dust, first bag was great. Got second bag from our usual feed store but different company (local mill actually), well by time we realized what and why we lost allot of chicks in several brooders and the only thing any of them had in common was the pellets...

We went back and smelled the remaining pellets in the bag and they had the worst chemical smell ever. These were equine pine pellet bedding at that! You just have to remember that these places have to compress the pellets with something???? We immediately bleached/cleaned every brooder and switched back to regular shavings and everyone was fine. It was a very hard lesson learned.

Bobby, I read somewhere on BYC that newspaper is a no-no for chicks because of the ink...paper towels over bedding. I have used play sand before and it worked fine. Very easy to put paper towels over too.

Yea they is a very minimal amount of people around me that raise seramas. I only know of two other breeders.

So, yea I will probably have to have him shipped. I kinda wanted a rooster before fall so I can get some more babies quicker and I know a ton of the serama breeders aren't shipping because the temperature is too high.

Thats what i do news papers then the paper towels. But want best for them. Sand wood pellets or shavings? I fig changing twice daily has really helped my lively hood on chick rates.
