If you mean the long curved feathers, the answer is "no". At 8 weeks the pullets combs should be almost non-existent, and the cockerel's will begin to show.

Well My little seramas are 3 days old today... and already growing feathers... I still can't get over how tiny they are.

Are there any special needs they will have compaired to full size/bantam chicks? I already have a modified very shallow water bowl for them. I'm feeding them 25% starter from TSC.

And of course, my wife ensures they get plenty of cuddle time. They like me to make a loose fist, and they burrow up in the hole made and will turn around and poke their heads out..lol It is very cute.

the only thing i needed to do special was bustup the chick starter feed into even smaller bits mine just couldnt eat the crumbles until they had been made smaller, then it ate like a horse. i stopped busting the feed up at about 2 weeks of age and she seems to be doing fine now with the size. good luck

Thanks for everyones help... I will post again in a few days to let everyone know how my hatch goes... Please send some fantastic hatching vibes my way..

Just an after thought.. I was wondering if there might be anyone close to Paradise, Texas who has Serama eggs for sale. I want to pick them up because I never have good luck with shipped eggs... Maybe it's because I live in a rural area where the post office is rougher than ususal with packages....

Not very big. I biult a few pens for indoors over the winter, each was 2ft wide by 4 ft long, about 3 ft high They fit a trio in each comfortably. DH is currently building another BIG pen for inside the garage over the winter seeing as the flock has grown and there is no way I am having that many birds in the house for that long. The new pen is 7ft tall, 8 ft wide and 4 ft deep. I hope to fit 18 seramas in there. We are aiming for 2 levels in there so it doubles the floor space for them and makes good use for all that space that would otherwise be wasted.

Doesn't anyone have tips on hatching these? I put my eggs in the bator last night, but would love some input! I've heard these are hard to hatch...my eggs are shipped and a lot of them are from 'A' hens.

This is what we use for some of ours: DH makes them, 3x2 and 4 feet tall overall. I love them!!

I've only hatched them once before and had 2 of 2 hatch, but those eggs were easily 3 X's bigger than the ones I have now! Oh well, guess I'll just wait and see what happens.
