Well Froggie,

I'm still supposed to get my pair of seramas this weekend. Now the little stinker is trying to get me to buy a third serama. A 2 week old chick. I think it might work too! Oh my, the chicken math is going to get me on my first 2, I mean 3.

Quit talking smack and sell me a chick! Now I'm going to make you work for that sale!

I am posting the pics but while they are uploading, I might as well be on BYC

Here's a question for the more seasoned breeders amongst us...

When can you start culling? Are there things you can cull for as chicks? Do back length and tail set change over time?

Are there traits that begin showing up in adolescence that give clues about the "final product?"

Or does everyone grow out every bird before they make the cut?

I'm probably going to hatch out 10 times as many chicks as I need so I can make some good choices, but if there are things I can cull for early, that would be great to know!

I'll pop over on the SCNA website to for any hints. I thought it would be good for some of us just starting to seriously breed Seramas to have a "culling schedule."

i know some of my hens that I have hatched I waited on and their tail arch improved greatly. it also depends on genetics.
