Hi,
I will be getting my Serama flock on Thursday and Friday

I am so excited I can't hardly think of anything else

I am going to three different breeders, that is why the two days. Two of the breeders have birds both from the same lines, and from different lines, and I will be getting my pullets from them. Then I'll be going to see Amy Bullock for a cockerel (and you never know if there is a pullet there I can't live without maybe another pullet too!!!). The coop is all built, and I just need to do a little painting so it will be all ready for Thursday and Friday. I'll post pictures on Friday of everyone

I've been really enjoying everyone's pictures too!

I can't wait to see the pics of your birds. Amy has some very nice birds, she is the SCNA judge and rep in the west coast.

Is your coop separated? I ask cuz you might have problem with the roos fighting for dominancy of the flock since they all come from difference breeders. If they all raised together since chicks then you will not have that problem. I find its best to pair them up and raise them in separate cages. Its the only way to keep their combs and waddles in perfect condition if you ever decided to show them. This is how I raise mine.

Cool I love your coop

Right now I'm only planning on one roo for the 4 pullets ... if Amy recommends 2 roos for 4 pullets, I'll do that, and yep have to divide coop or build another. DH would not be happy about building another for quite a while, I think!

I moved my serama outside 2 days ago and went out to feed this morning. One of my cockerels was laying in the pen dead

His comb was purple, so I guess it's what they call the 'sudden serama death syndrome'. I guess they have a lot of heart problems and apparently he had been on the bottom of the pile

Luckily, that's not always true. I don't remember how I introduced them, but I have a 2 year old cock and a three year old cock, who met each other about a year ago, and they get along great. I feel so blessed to not have to separate them, as they can both frolic in the yard with the girls. When I come home from work around 06:20, I either see the boys roosting next to each other,or the white hen is snuggled between them.

I don't even have problems figuring out who sired whom: Midas makes chocolate girls and buff boys, and Cannonball's kids are some version of wheaten or dark brown.

Does anyone know if there is a serama breeder near apple valley california? I am wanting to buy either young chickens or eggs to incubate.
