also posted some bantam mixes and pq seramas for sale as well.

Catwalk,
I give mine the same gravel/grit that you give to parakeets etc. I am assuming that it's cheaper than the reptile kind but I haven't checked.

I have been lurking on this thread and enjoying the pics. Decided to join in... I only have one serama. Squeak Toy... He is my spoiled house chicken.... Got him at the Lebanon Poultry Show in Oct. I have been searching for him a small mate with no luck... Most around here do not raise serama's.. I got all excited a few weeks ago when found an ad for some at 10.00 ea. I called and asked the person what class they were. They hesitated and then said I don't know but they are small. I asked what they weighed and they said oh 2 to 3 lbs. Further discussion they then realized they had sumatras!!!

I know he is far from perfect... I love him despite his faults.. His wing tips have to be trimmed because of his short legs.. And he has one crooked toe....

Lilchick, he sure is cute! I'll bet he's a lover, too. If you go to the Greenville show, Easter weekend, I can get him a buddy. Just tell me about how big he is and if you want a boy or girl. I have found that Serama boys can get along just fine. In fact, I caught my two oldest roosting together again last night! Otherwise, I have a skinny wheaten girl with a giant comb who needs a good home. She eats out of my hand and would be a good pet.

Smoothmule, Calisand is expensive, but I found it at Jack's the other week on clearance for a dollar!!!! I should've gotten it all, but they were big bags, and I didn't know if it was going to work or not. I got another egg with a shell on it today! I'm calling them today to see if they still have some, and then I'm making a special trip to get the rest.

Catwalk thanks for the offer but not sure if we will be going to any shows... If I can go I will pm you. Whoa I weighed Squeak and he now is 12. 4 oz. He needs to lay off the twinkies!

Usually, I post pictures of black silkied serama, but here are new photos I took today of some other colors. This is 3 generations into other color projects that I am working on. The columbian hen and the partridge hen are sisters..'08 hatch. The rooster is a son of the columbian hen. The gold/blue hen a daughter of the partridge hen.

Mother and son...

I have some partridge colored pullets from this group. I see a definite improvement in type, especially chest and wing placement in this new generation. Some are a rich chocolate brown...

2 others are more gray...I believe to be a penciled silver partridge.

A few of these pullets have started laying. I am anxious to see further improvments in type.

June your silkied Seramas are looking darn good. I have a little silkied roo similar to the one you have pictured. Bo's only 5 mo old in this picture and his first time out after getting him. He's filled out more but he's a sad looking site at the moment...he's molting and lost his sickle feathers. His Mom came from Dianne so he may be related to yours.
I have two 11 wk old pullets of his from a straight feather hen (Layla) and if they develop like I'm hoping I'll bred them back to Bo. The pullet's pictures are several pages back...the two black and white ones.
I would love to have one of those pullets of yours!!
