Hello, I have 6 well started serama cockerels and pullets that i am going to be selling. All show promice, I will not sell birds i dont think are quality, I am keeping some chicks back for me to use in my color project, these just dont fit the bill color wise!! None have green legs, or came from parents who had yellow lobes etc, this is the first generation on chicks from the adult breeders that i got from Grady taylor, No other blood here. I de worm with ivormecten and have put frontline on all my birds, i will guarrentee not no extra pets, or unwanted traveling buddies when shipping birds!!

Mine didn't have any heat, just a small enough space that they could snuggle together. I don't have mine in pairs or trios yet though, so that might change once I do.

ETA: Though most of mine spent the winter inside last year due to hatch date of October 26.

I would wash it and use a soft toothbrush, baby hair brush, or some other type of soft bristle brush to get the gunk off and 'fluff' it up. Make sure to put it back in the incubator while it's real wet though.

Usually the sticky goo is caused from too high humidity during incubation.

Heart breaker this morning.had two hatch yesterday.so cute, very small.
I checked them several times this morning and everything seemed fine.
Heard loud peeping so checked and one of them died.I do not have a clue why.
The chick left was huddled up to the dead chick.broke my heart.
I got one of my two week olds and put them both in the brooder.not knowing for sure what
would happen.......they are currently together.the new one under the older ones wing.
I'll get a pic for sure.
I hate this part.chicks not making it.......
Sure glad I have all of you to share the good and not so good with..........

Sorry to hear about your chick.

Your rooster looks like a blue wheaten or blue red, I think its more of a blue wheaten due to the lighter shade of red on the hackles.

I would go more with blue red since he does not have the wing 'triangle' as a wheaten should. But I agree that the coloring of his hackles is more wheaten than red.

The wingbay should be evident in a blue wheaten or a blue red either one. Even in oegb, you will see birds that have a weak or even nonexistant wingbay...a Blue Red is simply a BB Red which has had the black replaced with blue.

Okay, so what's your opinion?

The closest color pattern with that light hackle would be blue wheaten, just doesnt have a wingbay evident. Many oegb blue wheaten cockbirds have a weak or nonexistant wingbay, you sure cant expect a serama to fit the standard for oegb to the letter....gorgeous bird though...here is a blue wheaten oegb with similiar blue coloration, that shows a good solid wingbay....
