ok, 2 year old bs male, been finding eye / tail feathers for over a week. Still getting eggs, actually getting more now... and he seems to be mating with the girls a lot more not too. girls are all 2 years old also.
Today is the first time ever we got two eggs in one day...
I've been selling the eggs right along, but when we started finding tail feathers it told everyone left that I didn't think the eggs were fertile anymore. Then I noticed he was constantly displaying and mating... now I'm getting more eggs than ever before...
so should we sell them or eat them?

Fertile eggs are fine to eat and most males are fertile whether moulting or not. He would have to be severely deficient in protein and general nutrients to fail to grow new plumage and maintain fertility at the same time.

Best wishes.

Crack a few open and check fertility, is he coming 2 years old or was he already 2 when he got this train? i have some comming 2 year olds that are dropping their train.

he was almost two when he got his tail in late winter, def 2 now. I was under the impression that they got a spring tail, and that was mating season and when they lost it, mating season was over till fall or next spring. again im wrong, I thought I'd learned soooo much. lots of learning to still do :)

soooo, I put 4 eggs in the incubator, hoping

It has been my experience that the molting schedule for birds under 3-4 years can be a little erratic. I had a 2 year old male who didn't molt until February one year. It seems like once they are completely mature things will smooth out and start to happen on schedule. Except for my whites of course they insist on molting first every year, usually in June.

But it seems to work for them, we get lots of babies.
