I think it's a girl. It's chest isn't rusty coloured and it's facial markings look feminine.

That's what I thought but it doesn't really have a speckled breast. I'm new to quail and everything I've read says males have a rusty color and females have spots. This one really doesn't have either lol

Males will have absolutely no spots and be more orange in the breast. There can be quite a variety of patterns and shades in the Italians depending on what other colours are hiding in the genes. I've got some very pretty boys.

I would agree with girl ! X one of mine only has a few spot on her chin area and none on her chest but is still pale colour boys have a darker head and dry rust coloured chests
