This Rhode Island Red I got from the local feed store (sourced from Hoover’s Hatchery) is supposed to be a pullet, however today I noticed the start of curved tail feathers, with a beautiful green sheen. Does this mean male? It is about 10-11 weeks old.

Sorry for the poor picture. It’s camera shy.

Thsts a lovely pullet. Thete is a juvenile molt at around this age where tail feathers loosen and can look quite curved
That makes sense! The longer I stare at them, the more I think they have “rooster” qualities. I’m thinking “Oh no! All have long saddle feathers!” Here is ‘Roxanne’ The RIR’s tail feathers are definitely molting I saw white fluff and I thought the others were pecking at her? But I haven’t actually seen any pecking yet. The run has seen an increase in feathers lately.

Ok, update on Roxy the RIR - I am seeing Long, curved, black with green sheen, tail feathers. All photos I see online of RIR pullets/hens do not have curved, black tail feathers. Is she still a she?
The attached photo is of someone else’s picture on Instagram of their RIR hen for reference. Mine does NOT have that tail.

Here is the most recent photo I have of her that I took a few minutes ago. The tail is what is confusing me most because it’s black with a green sheen. If anyone can share photos of their female RIR with a tail like mine then that would be helpful. I can’t seem to find any photos of pullets with this tail.
