Ah, yes, I suspect the KCs are just now hitting sexual maturity, hormones are high.

I'm already beginning to witness the gang mating as the khakis have become more interested in the females recently, so it's obviously time to change up their living arrangements. I don't know what it is about these duckies considering none of them are affectionate or friendly toward me, but they sure tug at my heart strings when something goes wrong. I'm going to have hubby help me clean up Mr pekin's head when he gets home.Poor guy, I understand how you feel, I can’t stand seeing animals suffer either. If it were me all three KC drakes would be moved to a drakes only pen immediately. As they get older, their hormones will boost, especially as breeding season hits, your females will be in danger from gang mating. Gang mating can result in severe conjunctivitis, caused from the drakes saliva entering the hens eye as more than one male attempts to breed her. Again, so sorry you’re having these issues with your duckies, I recommend, for the time being, spraying the Pekins wound with an antibacterial or applying neosporin to lower chances of infection.
Originally we had just the pekin drake and 3 females, so a good m/f ratio. Then a couple months later my husband went behind my back and got some khaki campbell eggs and incubated them. They all turned out to be males unfortunately. Things have actually been pretty calm until just recently. Definitely a wake up call for us to get our ratio back to a place where everyone is happy and healthy. And hubby better not get any crazy ideas about shaking things up againPoor thing! Yeah... i had some in my flock decide my Pekin drake was public enemy #1 and bully him to that point i had to separate, well i put him back with his remaining female...
I now own mainly drake with my Muscovy flock... 17(+2 muscovy X's drakes) they can be a bit annoying with each other but no one is suffering any injury. In that case removal is sometimes the only option.
What are your flock dynamics? do you own only drakes?
