Malformed Eggshell

Hi all, My first post here. I got 5 Isa Browns a few months ago, not sure how old, I think about 18 months. Getting 2-4 eggs per day. Learning as we go on chickens.. Every now and again we get an egg where the shell is malformed. The egg inside seems to be ok, but not sure, I thought we better not eat them. Not sure if it is coming from the same bird, though that seems logical... Anyone know what causes this shell malformation? Thanks.
PS how do I load up a a photo? When I try to, system says I am not authorised to...

If your birds are relatively new layers, this is not unusual. Some birds will do this after coming back into laying after a molt. They sometimes just have a glitch in their system. I often get eggs where the shell seems a little puckered at one end. I've always eaten eggs with intact but odd shell. I've gotten some eggs with soft spots on the shell, these I don't eat because I worry about bacteria entering the egg through the weakened shell.

You might get a better than gut response from someone else, and...

oops, I missed how old they are, It might just be a fluke. I had one hen that would lay double yolked eggs, then not lay for a day, then lay a funny egg and then go back to regular laying.

Young pullets can produce some funky looking eggs. You'll get soft shells, oddly shaped eggs, strange color variations, spotty yolks, and double yolks. Eventually these things resolve on their own if their dietary needs are met.
