I'm new to breeding and I want to breed my new pair of mallards but I have no where to start!! I'm from Louisiana if that matters. When's breeding season? Do they lay year round? Please give me as much info as possible bc I'm clueless!!! Thanks!!

I own a single female Mallard and since she's matured (about 3-4 months ago) she has laid an egg every day. I'm pretty sure they lay year round but I am still learning as I go myself. Ducks won't get commit to a nest until they have a clutch of like 10 eggs together in a nest. You can check to see if the eggs are fertilized by looking in the yoke, fertilized eggs have a little bullseye looking spot on them. If they are fertilized, don't pick them up and let her lay them and possibly group them together and see if she sits on them.

They lay year round? I heard that they only lay once?
