mallard ducks....what do you think about them?

I love my mallards..like previous posters mentioned..easy to take care of. They breed and hatch on their own. If you plan on taking the eggs away, be aware that she will lay more eggs. I have had my original pair for 2 or so years and they have never flown out of the run.

You asked for pics...here in this pic is a 2-3 wk old duckling that was patiently waiting in a basket for the nest group of children to take pics with her...(this was the day before Easter)

I love Mallards but they will fly away with wild mallards so you have to protect against that. I have heard that they come back home and usually bring friends when they migrate. LOL
 
My female mallard is one of my best layers, and yes, she lays year round. She has not gone broody though. I hatched her eggs out under a chicken hen. My female mallard is pretty quiet and layed back. Of course, compared to the runners I have, that's no surprise.
