Mallard sitting on nest

We have two female Mallards and one or both of them have built a nest outside of their run. they have laid 7 eggs in it at this time. The question is, does a mallard have to sit on the nest all the time? They both go into their house at night.

Yes, to hatch them they have to sit on them at night. When they go broody, they will sit on the nest constantly, only getting up once or twice a day briefly to eat, drink, poop, and maybe take a quick swim.

You need a Drake in order to get Ducklings...Eggs need to be fertile....Do you have a Drake?
