Mallard X Indian Runners???

Hatchery Rouen. He was purchased for $5 as a companion to a solo hatch runner duck. Since he was not advertised or represented as an exhibition rouen, I did not feel like a "sucker" for buying him.

Feathersite has a good page showing the difference between exhibition rouens and "farm yard" rouens.

I, personally, like the production quality Rouens better. I don't like the look of the exhibition Rouens at all, hence I don't breed them! I think the typical utility grade Rouens can be gorgeous.

you ever hear the phrase " mutts make the best friends" well sometimes the mutts or NOT QUITE PEFECT breeds are the best around!!!

My smartest duck is a non-show quality Welsh Harlequin Shelley. Her bill never turned solid olive green like it is supposed to. Her feet are still bright orange instead of dark orange like they are supposed to be. Her speculum feathers are only blue on one side instead of both. That being said, her feathering is awesome, she lays huge tasty eggs, she has a boat load of personality and she is a great pet. Worth every penny I spent on her. Now I AM breading her to a show quality drake. Hopefully any offspring will have dad's looks and mom's brains.
