Mama Butter, Buff Banty Cochin, age 7 months, hatched these chicks from eggs from her friends in the little flock on New Years Day. At 14 days old they are in a tractor with a heat lamp in our garage. Sounds toasty but with our temps here its about 4o degrees inide the plastic wrapped tractor (3x6feet). I am planning to slowly lower the temp to meet that of outside so I can reintroduce Mama and her babes to the others (4hens and a roo). Taking my time since its 6 degrees out right now! I am most interested to see how they will feather out - the little blacky is definately a PBR but the others are also PBR or SLW, all with an orangey mutt Papa Roo....
