Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Yep its a rubber one. The tricks it to find one thats mostly rubber. Alot of the cheaper ones are made with something else (I forgot what it is called) and only a little bit of rubber. The you need a good cover for it to help keep it warm for longer and to protect chick feet. I crochet my own wool cover. And like I said the woolly hen helps keep it warmer for longer. My babies love it.
When I get home I will take some pics so you can see it.

Yes, Ewwww.....I couldn't stand having them in the house let alone in the bedroom right at the foot of my bed. :lau You're a more loving soul than I am!

I live off grid, so I couldn't use the heating pad consistently, so I'm using a woolly hen and a hot water bottle, but I've learned a lot from your post @Blooie. Thank you so much for everything you do! :bow:love

What a nice thing to say! Thank you!

I change their "diapers" (paper towels) regularly and I've never understood that whole chick dander thing. We had a couple of pasty butt issues so I kept them in another day, then yesterday we were going to DW's mother and dad's for MIL's 85th and had a lot of prep (cake and egg nog) to do. Today is rainy dreary and all of about 35°F and I'm depressed because I found Eos dead in the barn this morning. I think a case of ruptured liver. So I'll take them out tomorrow when I'll feel more like hanging out with the kids and see if MAYBE Anais will be interested in raising them.

Oh, Bruce - I've known Eos as long as I've known you, seems like! I'm so sorry your day isn't going better and I sure didn't mean to make it worse with some teasing! Love you!
