Time to start paying my dues ... went to big R

HW cloth with a HP (no auto off confirmed) inside it, then inside a zipper travel pillow case,bungeed and a towel over top...
open at both ends with towel draped over..sure got quite when I took them out of the box and put them under MHP

some where under there are 2 barred rocks, 5 CX and 2 BB bronze turkeys.. towel pulled up for pic

You can pop it up to 6 for an hour or so until they get more accustomed to the cooler ambient temps, if it eases your mind. You can always set it back to a lower temp if they won't go in at all because it's too warm. I start my chicks outdoors so I don't have to worry about them so much about them having to acclimate.  It sounds like they are fine - some on top, some underneath, others exploring, so remember that huddling can not only indicate chilling but total insecurity. They cling to each other because they are familiar to each other.  Keep us posted.  

Thanks Blooie I feel like I did when my kids slept in their cribs in their rooms for the first time at night! :O LOL!

So they're probably feeling insecure I imagine with the total change of scenery?

Feedback appreciated Two things that I'm wondering, the window in the lid is 1/2" HWC, is that okay to keep predators out? Also there's a 1/2" gap between the lid and the wal on the right hand side, do I need to be concerned about mice? Thanks <3

Mice can squeeze through that gap if it is long enough, but shouldn't through the HW cloth.

The gap runs the length of the lid :/

Also with the HWC wondering about coons, Hawks? Probably far fetched but just trying to eliminate predator opportunities
