Mama Heating Pad in the Brooder (Picture Heavy) - UPDATE

Either

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005NZ66KU

Or

https://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-731-500-Heating-UltraHeat-Technology/dp/B00075M1T6

Should be fine.

First one has more precise heat controls but both will do.

There's also a smaller version of the XPress Heat

https://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-2014-915-Xpressheat-Heating-Large/dp/B008744QM4

Although I think the big one might be best.

Besides Amazon they can also be found at CVS, Walmart, Walgreens and Target (I think), etc. Basically anywhere that sells heating pads

Should clarify by more precise heat controls I mean more options temperature wise, 6 options instead of 3, but it'll work.

The most important feature is that it does NOT have an auto shut off or you can turn off the auto shut off.
thank you! This makes it a lot easier! :yesss:

No problem! Good luck with your chicks! What breeds are you getting?

I am getting Easter eggers, buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island reds, and barred rocks. I am so excited!! :ya

Awesome!! You will love them! I have 1 Barred Rock, 2 Black Australorps, 3 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 Easter Eggers. They are great! My Barred Rock and the Australorps can sometimes be bullies but they're very nice to me and my BR I think is one of my most personable and one of my smartest chickens. My Easter Eggers are a little flighty and one is lowest on the pecking order and victim of the most bullying, the other is somewhere in the middle, but I think that depends on the bird because others have said that their EEs are top birds. They are definitely more wary and cautious than other breeds though. And I find them to be gorgeous birds. They come in soooo many different colors, any color really, because they are mixes, so it is a lot of fun to watch them grow and see what they become. They change almost daily. They also lay beautiful eggs. One of mine lays a pretty greenish color and a medium size and was the first to lay at 22 weeks and laid pretty far into winter. Right now she is molting and not laying. My other laid beautiful HUGE blue eggs but she's being bullied and not laying atm :( which brings up another point, be sure they have enough space. I hope she resumes laying in the new coop. The Orpingtons are very friendly birds and mine lay pretty well. 1 or 2 of them, my Barred Rock, and I think maybe an Australorp, are the only ones laying right now. My Buffs are a little bit stupid in terms of like finding the door back into the run when I let them out sometimes (other times they do) and will pace and pace and pace LOL BUT. They are very curious about me and very intuitive and smart in that way. They're also food hogs lol. They all vary in their rank in the pecking order. I don't have RIRs but I hear they are great birds too.

Anyway, sorry for rambling so much, I just love my birds LOL

Chickens are a lot of fun, you will love them!!! They all have such unique personalities and it is so much fun to watch them grow.

And you know, of course, that you must post pictures of them when you get them. It's the rules :p

Haha! Your birds sound awesome!! That's too bad your Easter egger is getting bullied! I hope that gets resolved soon. I am extremely excited to meet all my babies and learn all of their little quirks and personalities. I have been waiting and researching chickens for the past 2 and a half years and I cannot believe the time is almost here!!! :celebrate of course the pictures were a given ;) thank you for taking the time to tell me about your birds. They sound like amazing birds!

I know how that feels! I ordered mine in like August or September and then had to wait for them to hatch lol but yes, you will have birds to talk about soon enough!

And thank you so much!! I think they are too

And LOL thanks! Her sister has like the only creative name, Diva, because one time they were all dust bathing and they all eventually, slowly, got up one by one, but Diva stayed laying there, and all sprawled out in the dirt, and just would not stop bathing. Like a diva :p until her sister ran right over her LOL

You can sort of see Diva in these pictures. She's the whitish one. She looks the same as Bunny except she's white instead of orange and Bunny's lacing is a little bit lighter.

The other chickens are Blackie and Beauty for the movie Black Beauty and then the 3 Orpingtons are Amber, Angel, and Penny. I think Beauty is the Australorp in the picture.

I am so creative :lau
