I looked at the pad you posted a link too. When you go to the control pic, it shows a 2 hour auto off light. Does your have this or is it a different pic than the one you have?

I wouldn't mind getting a larger one that doesn't turn off, specially through Amazon Prime.

Look at the controller on the first picture then the one on the 4th picture. They aren't the same!!!!!!

The Q&As say it does NOT turn off.

I see that. Also, if you look at the package picture, it shows the size of the pad is 12x15, not 12x24 like it says in the discription. I don't understand why they can have the correction descriptions when these things are advertised!

Has anyone bought this pad? If so, what is the true size and is there a 2 hour shut off?

I have a brooder box I made that will hold 75 chicks. Any idea how many heating pads I will need for 75 chicks? I'm guessing 3, but I'm not real sure.

Three sounds about right. I currently have 25 in mine with one pad.

I'll be getting 26 chicks sometime between February 10-14. I'm going to order the HPs on the 1st (payday). I haven't yet figured out what to to use for the container. What have you all used, short of building one from scratch? Thanks in advance for all your help

I use a Tupper for the first couple of weeks, and then I use a dog play pen I put down a tarp with painters plastic, clothes pin it up on the outside about half way up. Then some bird netting on top(stuff you put on bushes or trees to save your fruit).

Thanks daxigait! I just ordered an octagonal "pet playpen" that has it's own floor and top with fine netting on the sides to see through. I think it will work out well. It was on sale at WallyWorld online and the shipping was free! Now, just gotta shape up the wire "momma" and tape the edges and get the flannel pillowcases to cover the HPs and I should be all set. Come on little chickies :yiipchick

I read some of the reviews. Apparently, the pictures are just WRONG! According to the reviews, the unit does NOT shut off and is the LARGE 12" x 24" size. Since I've got 26 (FS) chicks coming, I'm ordering 2 to make sure they'll have plenty of room as they grow. Not sure yet if I'll put them side by side longways or sideways (12" x 48" or 24" x 24"). Any thoughts or opinions on that? I'm thinking the pet playpen will be big enough either way.

Here's something you may wish to look for: a cheap grill cover. There are some (not the fitted ones) that are essentially 9x9 tarps with drawstrings (found mine at Lowes). Last time I brooded, I put the chicks and their brooder on this, and pulled the drawstring a bit to give the whole thing a bit of a "lip", so that nothing "spilled" out beyond the tarp. Keeps things contained, easier cleanup. Found mine at Lowes. Don't remember cost...
