By golly, Miss Bee, I think you and Shanandgem may have hit on something huge here!! Since so many things we used to say all the time now have extremely different definitions than they did when they were part of our everyday vocabulary, we need to be a force for protecting the good old words from distortion!

Swanky is as good a place to start as I can think of!!

Thank you! Here they are. 2 Buckeyes and a Black Copper Marans.
My local feed store has Columbian Wyandottes coming in this week. I may not be able to resist.

I am jealous. In my part of the woods, the local feed stores just have "production reds" and "fry pans". No impulse buying for me! I have to order from a hatchery to get anything that is full breed!

I forgot to let the chickens out this morning! Guess it's an accidental "lockdown" today to get the ladies that hide their eggs to lay in the nests! Glad I made that coop waterer! Oh well, it's only going to get to 60 today. LOL, I bet the Bigs are going to be jealous of the chicks, since they have a little outside run they can get to. LOL there's going to be some cackling going on in there.

Sad news, my new 5 month old Barred Rock rooster chased my 4 yr old son yesterday. No harm done, but DH said if he does it again he is a gonner. I said "that's fine, we'll just get to find out how a 6 month old cockerel tastes."

Too bad, he is good to the ladies.

My life is just one big experiment!

Thanks everybody.

10acre, I lucked out. I really wanted a Buckeye but it didnt appear I'd be able to get them without ordering, and I did. but I couldnt get them before April 18. And as we know, you need to order several and the shipping cost is brutal. Coudlnt believe it when I saw they were coming in 10 minutes down the road last week, so I jumped on it and thankfully the store called me when they came in. It was a day early too. Glad I was ready to pick them up on the fly.

And hey, cant blame you at all about that roo. He'd have a very short lived life here too. One of these chicks yesterday may have a short expiration date also. Yesterday was the first time I had them here on the couch with me. Two of them were really sweet. Little pecks on my face and such. The other came after my face and clamped down like a rabid dog. I gave her a little flick and she just got mad and came back after me. Little b... So if I dont see any improvement, well.

Thanks aart. I appreciate the thumbs up, especially from you veterans. What I nice job you did on that portal hole thingy. I was just gonna put a separator wire up and leave a few inches at the bottom so they could run under from anywhere. that should work, no?

COChix, its actually a guinea pig cage. I can post the link to the seller off ebay in you like. It was 50 buck to my house. Theres a divider included that I dont have set up. There isnt a hard bottom on it tho, that liner velcroed around it is the bottom. Its not there strong, but to move it without it sinking at the bottom need a board under it, which I have. I'm pretty happy with it. I can change the wall sections around easy enough, but I dont feel like breaking it down, however, next time I'm gonna have it to where the 2 doors are accessible at better locations.
