On the upside, it makes you get out of the house more often than you might otherwise

As sacrilegious as it sounds, especially coming from me, I tend for the most part to agree with @aart

Went to pick up DD1 at the greenhouse where she is working 3 days a week and wandered around the "primitive barn" while waiting. There was a painted sign that read "I would agree with you but then we would both be wrong" Obviously the exact opposite of the Blooie-aart agreement but I thought it was funny.

I just want to say thanks for this thread! I can't remember where I learned about it, but it really inspired me. I hate using the heat lamp, and always wanted to buy an ecoglow, but didn't like the price tag on that. This has been the perfect solution.

My chicks are being brooded inside since I don't (yet) have the space for them outside. They get my spare bathroom, and are in the tub. I had a nice rounded cave in the beginning, slanting down in the back, but discovered it wouldn't fit in the tub that way. Oops. :p So I flattened out the top, and I'll have to make adjustments as the kids grow.

The chicks hatched yesterday, and stayed in the incubator overnight to dry out. This morning I moved them into the brooder. They all took to MHP without a problem. Some pictures:

I like how when I walk into the room they are all out of sight, and quite. But they all come scampering out to see what is going on when I stick my hand in the brooder.

Anyway, thanks so much for the idea!

Very cute! My 2012 chicks were raised similarly. Be aware that IN the tub only lasts about 2 weeks. By then they can fly two feet up. And then they will get brave and head to the bathroom floor. But they can't get back up

Same here! Lol! My husband is like "oh my word." With an eye roll and a laugh ;P

Sure he is rolling his eyes NOW. Just wait until you spot him out with the chickens when he doesn't know you are watching.

The bigs saying hi to the littles :) My roo found a nugget of something at one point and made the food call and a bunch of the littles came rushing over to where he was <3 It was SO cute!

Kind of dark but a couple are on top of mama, some are eating or scratching at the straw and the rest of the 21 are under mama :) I have it set on 4, seems to be right

Oh, you do have bigs!!.....I wondered when I saw that feeder in another pic, but for some reason thought the chicks were your first chickens.
