Hang it from the top of the crate so they can't get anything into it but their eater parts!

Ducklings this time. They are about a week old, and used to a heat lamp, so we will see how long it takes them to figure out the heating pad.

Hang it from the top of the crate so they can't get anything into it  but their eater parts!  

I have my chick feeder hanging so they can't get feet in but they still bill it out like the piggies they are. I don't rush to refill it (hey, there's food all over the floor!) And as the last step in waste management, I dump the brooder litter into the adult coop where my Speckled Sussex spends hours picking through it to get that feed (which is somehow better than the exact same feed in her feeder).

My hens love going thru the chicks litter that I dump in the yard too! Any little snack they can find!
