We started our permanent chicken run with growout pen today!!!! I dislike Texas soil where i am... it's 75% clay, 10% rock, and finally 15% soil so only two corner posts up so far!
While the kids and i worked we let the hen and older teens out to free range outside of makeshift run. They did great! Till it was time to go in

Yay! I love my yard for the gang... they love it too.. and I’m sure yours will love their new yard I don’t care for our soil either.. where we used to live we could plant a small tree and it’d be giant in five years! But I like living here MUCH better!
The owls have been back every night ... we must have an abundance of rats ... cuz they are out there all night long. We were watching them last night.. one was sitting on the shed next to the coop and one in the pine tree then the other flew over and they were sitting next to each other on a branch.. SO cool! I just love nature! And they are really BIG!
I told hubs “what if I put some chicken feed out in the open.. that way when the rats are eating it the owls can swoop down and have dinner”

Yea, I cannot have anything in a pot! But we have chicken poop now so maybe we’ll both do a little better

this is true!!! I'm on my third attempt with potted plants. as soon as i touch they die, but if i just have them on my porch and not touch they thrive like crazy!
plants are a see but no touch situation
