Mamma gave up on eggs too early!

Yes, and I really would like some silkies.

As much as i hate FB, it is useful for the chick business. Maybe check local poultry groups. And Craigslist. And the Swap/sell/rehoming threads here on BYC too

Yes, I got chicks from this lady earlier this year off of Craigslist. Chicks were very sweet and I got to see the parents of them and they were very nice looking birds. This is her last hatch of the year, so perfect timing!

On a very happy note, I did a lot of sitting and thinking and looking at my calendar and I know what day I set these eggs. Either on the 8th or the 9th, meaning she should hatch in about 3 days. The embryo size is about at that level, mabye a bit smaller because of the day of not being sat on. I am so happy!

Did you get the humidity to come down? I assume you already don't have any water in there? And is your hygrometer correct? I can't imagine 76% inside with no water and still that humid. I live in a very humid area and still only gets to 35-40% with no water. keep all the vents open too!
I do have a little bit of water in there because I want to be sure the air cell doesn’t get too big. It usually isn’t very humid here this time of year, but with the rain, the humidity spiked. Right after I posted, the humidity went back down to about 45%.

Also, how do I keep the incubator from getting too cold tonight? It is is supposed to snow all night and tomorrow as well. I’m thinking about putting my heating pad over the top on the lowest setting and wrap the whole thing in a towel. I sure don’t want it to get too cold. When it is that cold outside, our house only heats to about 60 and rarely gets to that. It is a very old farmhouse built in the late 1920’s.

I marked the air cell. Does it look alright? Not too big or small? I think I’m going to put her on lockdown tonight.

I just did the final candle and everything is looking perfect! The air cell looks great and she has filled all but a sliver of the space. I could see where her beak is pressed against the membrane where she will pip. I am soooo nervous! I really hope she hatches our okay.

Do y’all have any name suggestions?
I’m kinda thinking Vivian (to live) or Sheba (all powerful queen of Egypt)
I’ve been thinking long and hard about a name that is perfect for my little fluff :love
