I live in a suburb and can't have rooster or it will blow my cover.

I have this one "hen" who doesn't act like the other two.

1) Makes frequent "honk honk" noises. Its easy to see how it could turn into "honk-a-doodle-doo"
2) Is agressive. If I am messing with the cage wire, tries to peck at my bare fingers. I offerred her my knuckle and she bit it, pinching it a bit. When I put on gloves, or open the door, the agressiveness stops.
3) Pecks at new objects in the cage. Like the shiny metal clasp.
4) Does not appear afraid of me. "she" is the easiest one to catch.
5) Of the three birds I bought, this one was the only one with a full tail (the others had tailfeathers missing)

I dunno. I'm really scared that "she" will start crowing.

These are black australorps by the way. The one that I am referring to is suppsed to be 2 or 3 months old. I've only had them for 10 days.

Opinions?

I think a better pic is in order. Also see if you can get one of its face and comb. Those things you listed could be male or female. Our roo is the LAST one to let us catch him.

'The accidental Rooster' sounds like a great title for a movie.

I can't tell from your pic.... maybe you could post another?

If those two are the same age, I would GUESS that the one with the larger comb is a roo. Maybe someone else will chime in here that has black australorps

I can tell by the tail that the one in question is a definate hen, so no worries.

The one I would question would actually be the one missing tail feathers, because her comb is a little big.

both look like girls, IMO.
