Managing an adult goose with Angel wing

I have an adult goose with angel wings, and the vet said there is no hope of fixing it with the goose this old. Is there anything I can do to make him more comfortable with it? He keeps trying to fly, but of course it doesn't work. His big feathers are ratty and sometimes get caught on the fence. Someone said I can trim them, but how short do I trim them? I don't want to hurt him.

I think from reading the comments that a 2 year old goose with angel wing is to old to tape to fix?...

We had a member who waited till the first molt and when the flight feathers began to grow back in did the wrapping and she said it worked. Might be worth a try.
