The pedigree papers sort of look like a family tree. It has breeder names (mine has a contact number from any breeders past 2005) birds mated, and so on. I can follow my lines back to 1983 (providing that everyone was truthful, which is always a little risky, but hopefully they were honest.) And the new hen I can follow back to 1985. I feel pretty confident they are unrelated. My hen came from 20 minutes away (I'm in Pa) and my 1st pair came from Florida and my second pair came from Oregon.
