I have a pair of woodies and a pair of mandarin ducks and was reading that they both love eating mast (acorns) and that in the wild it's a big part of their fall and winter diet. I live in a hardwood forest with tons of acorns everywhere. Is it OK to feed them acorns in the fall and winter? If so, do I need to crack the acorns first or anything? They seem awfully big for the little guys to eat whole!
