Well that is different....Jewish wear their skullcaps so it's ok and it is customary for them to wear them. Even the Pope himself wears one.

I was raised that hats were ok everywhere but church, court, the table an someone else home. Though I don't wear mine in my own home.

Honestly though, depends on the situation. A kid coming to my house to play with my kids is NOT the same dress code as someone going to court for instance. Eating corndogs in the kitchen NOT the same as a sit down dinner with real plates. Kind of relative. Course the fact that I've got uncles, etc that were balding early and didn't like people staring (also rude) or making snide remarks (even worse) I could understand them wearing a hat... yeah, very relative.
But for the little ... person... to come up with a snarky remark AND an (in his mind) insult at a simple request by the owner of the home you've been invited to... uh uh... you want to enter my home you'll respect it... whether that means the unspoken Don't Pee On The Walls or whether that includes more human etiquette things like hats in the house... you want in, show respect for the owner's kind enough to invite you... or wait outside. Pretty simple really.
Bonus points if you've got something REALLY tastey smelling cooking on the stove.

My kids are 8 and 13 and they have known forever not to wear a hat in someone's home, restaurant, etc. Gives them incentive to make sure their hair isn't a mess!

I agreed with the OP, I have many Jewish, Sikh, and Muslim coworkers who proudly wear the emblem of their faith and I'm cool with that. The disrepectfull 22-year is what I had the problem with...

Not only disrepectful not removing hats but I got my panties up in a wad seeing low crotch pants dragging down, showing underwears/boxers.

My newphews 23 and 22 know better than to talk back to me and I'm the cool aunt as they say. The 22 year old one will even pull up his pant when visiting my house. He knows I hate the droopy draws that the guys walk around in.

i dont count hoodies as hats i randomly put mine up and down all the time(without realizing it) i dont wear hats if i do i take it off 1st opertunity i see in some1s house if they have a rack or i can set it somewhere.
i also find it funny most of you think only men should take there hats off in a building why not women? they wear same style of hats now and im only in low 20s but have seen films and women always remove there hats. srry just my 2cents
