I have read a lot of threads on bumblefoot here but I am posting...

I am pretty sure two of my ducks have bumblefoot. They have a few squishy lumps.

I have given them an epsom salt bath for 30 minutes, disinfect with betadine, and applied polysporin. I haven't tried to remove the brown scabs. One of them has a crack on the scab (right foot in the blur picture.) I haven't wrapped their feet and they spend daytime with their flock and have a swimming pool. I apply idoine and polysporin before I put them in the coop every night.
Should I remove them from the flock and keep them in a separate pen without a pool? Or should I put just waterers and drain the pool for the entire flock and let them stay together?
With your experience, what kind of materials are the best ones to wrap their feet?

You may get by with using a drawing salve and wrapping along with epsom salt soaks.
Here is info on bumblefoot. Problem is if you don[t treat while the bumble is small or just starting you'll have a harder time treating it.

I don't think I let the ducks have access to water for swimming unless it's right before your going to soak and treat and wrap. That way the drawing salve and wrap will stay on longer.

Thanks for the links! I haven't read all but they look really good. I will wrap their feet and will keep them away from the pool. If you were me, would you separate the ducks from the flock or remove the pool and let everyone stay together?

if you can put the ones needing treatment together and separate from the rest but where they can all still see each other that would be best. Then the other birds won't have to do without their pool.

Thanks, will try to do it. One more question... The birds are taking an epsom salt bath in the bathtub, so they dunk their head in the water. Is it OK for their eyes and respiratory system? I just googled and a lot of people are soaking only their feet. Mines try to fly away if I put just their feet in the water.

The big thing you want to avoid is them drinking the water, which they'll probably be doing if they're dunking their heads and everything. The solution will act as a system flush and potentially throw off digestive balance. I use a 3-gallon bucket for better control over mine during their soaks.

Got it. I will use a large tote. My husband hates poops in the bathtub, so that solves another problem! I am making duck booties with cellulose sheets now.
I checked all the birds last night and found out that Indian Runners have clean feet but Anconas and Pekins have bumblefoot (the weight affects it, too?) Now I have five birds that I have to treat. I cleaned and disinfected the duck run with idoine mixed water and threw a bit of charcoal powder. We had a very wet spring, perhaps it caused the bacteria outbreak. I learned a lesson that I have to check their health condition more regularly. I do weekly health check-up for my chickens but I ignored ducks as they run away and hard to catch... Thank you so much for your fast reply and sharing helpful information!

Yes no drinking the water. I use a tote also just large enough for them to sit in so they can’t stick their heads down to drink I’ve even seen people wrap a towel around their neck so they can’t stick their heads into the water.
