Try treating your other birds with SafeGuard goat wormer 10% white suspension liquid. 3cc per gallon for 3 days. This should be their only source of drinking water. Birds that are wormy express the same symptoms that yours did. Lice and mites can be found anywhere on the body, but especially near the vent. lift up the feathers near their vent and you may see little red or black specks moving around (mites), yellowish/tan/reddish-brown buggy things crawling around (lice), or nothing at all. lice will also leave their eggs in little deposits of clumps of white, hard, globs at the base of feathers.

So sorry your chick didn't make it. She was a very lucky hen blessed with a mama who cared about her and who did her best to take care of her...that's all any little animal can hope for.

With only a few chickens losing one is bad news, so as they say, sorry for your loss.

Cause of death could be many things, but the lethargy and disinclination to stand with loss of apetite has the ring of rat/mice born desease. Rats being doubly incontinent means they spoil the food and water they are sharing with their new found feathered friend. It's the same as happens with humans.. Leptospirosis. Also known as Weil's disease.

I dont think she was egg bound now either.
2 died right after Hurricane Harvey: diarrhea/lethagic/stopped eating & drinking/got to point of not being able to walk within few days!! I think from the chicken disease that is treated with corid from the water in the pen. But I think I started the corid too late
2 of them were healthy w no symptoms & when I was gone for a couple nites came home & found them dead ?? 2 different occasions
