haha indeed. I admit, I really love the challenge of the Marans and seeing how each breeding seasons things get a bit closer to what I have imagined in my mind is exactly what they could be.I think that's part of what makes a good breeder "good" - the day you think you've got your breed perfect, you should probably throw in the towel!
You know what I want more than anything? Is some decent enough quality Silver Penciled Wyandottes to get started working on. That's my other favorite pattern beside birchen and I adore the wyandottes. Down this way, there is absolutely nothing in the way of Large Fowl Ones. It's a good feeling, eh? You want a challenge, though? Work with me on Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock! Goodness!!
Are there silver penciled 'dotties, or just the silver laced? Regardless, the pattern breeds are so much more difficult than solid colors. Can be VERY frustrating.
The Silver Penciled used to be one of the most popular colors of Wyandottes, until the Silver Laced were developed. The Silver Laced became the go to color and the Pencileds fell out of favor. Its sad that both now are very difficult to find in good quality and with good fertility. Are there silver penciled 'dotties, or just the silver laced? Regardless, the pattern breeds are so much more difficult than solid colors. Can be VERY frustrating.
I've always understood that the back should slope slightly downward towards the tail. Haven't heard anything about an upward slope. Would this discussion have happened when I was away? And was there reasoning given for the change?
