This might not be as helpful as you'd think. Not yet at least. While the APA recently admitted the Black Coppers to the ASOP they did not send the breed description to judges. This is not something they routinely do & I, as a judge, wish they would. I believe that when a new breed or variety is admitted to the Standard a description should be sent to all currently licensed judges.
I printed the Standard for the Black Copper Marans from this site. Unfortunately very few APA Judges use this site & I expect few have gone looking for the breed standards. At this point I suspect that a lot of Marans re being judged on condition as many judges don't have a standard description to work from.​

Interesting...this past weekend at a local poultry show in Syracuse, the comment I got from a judge was "he won because he was in the best condition"..

I usually take a copy with me but forgot that day.

It is acceptable to take a copy of one's breed standard and give to a judge before judging.

We are working on pictures as most of the time a judge has to judge quickly so a picture of a male and female would help.

The MCCUSA is working on this but it will take some time.

I've got a question about combs. The standard calls for 5 points, and I'd like to clarify exactly what is meant by point. Does each little serration in the very front count as a point? How distinct does a point have to be to be called a point, essentially. As an example..

This guy has 6 points, right?
