Lisa, I have shipped eggs for many year and can give you a little advice if you would like. Last year I bought over $3000 worth of eggs that were shipped USPS. The flat rate box were the only ones I ever received broken eggs in them. The # 7 12x12x7 priority is the best for small orders. I ship in the egg cartons with three rows of four eggs, these are the old fashion egg cartons, the egg carton co. have these now. I buy the x-large size and wrap eggs in the small bubble wrap and then put the small end of the egg down in carton.
2.) So, if they order a dozen - - - you send a dozen (no extras) ? ?
3.) My Blue Copper marans lay a JUMBO egg - - it is really big.
I can not shut the carton on a Extra Large carton when I collect these and that is without bubblewrap.
Does this 3 x 4 egg carton have a lid? Do you add any extra fillings / protection in the box ?

Lisa, the USPS will send you the #7 priority mail box free of charge to your house, all the priority mail box are free to your house. you can call an order or go online and order. I do mine online, I also use these for shipping my glassware on ebay.
I believe that eggcarton.com has the three row cartons in a larger size. will check in a minute. Don
I am new to the Marans breed. I have an order placed for 12 Blue Copper Marans. Is the only difference in the Blue and Black the color? I am very excited about getting my new chicks they are so beautiful.

Thanks Don - - you are a real sweatheart! Thanks for looking up the information for me . . .
I went to the post office today and picked up the two largest boxes they had.
Then, I went to a different post office to drop off my package and they had an even bigger box for the shipping.
They said that box size with the weight I had would be $16 ($15.95 to be exact). It is a 12 x 12 x 8 box . ..
I just sent Ds out to get it and it says . . . Drum Roll PLEASE . . box #7.

Standards are very similiar. The main difference will come in with breeding combinations.
Black Copper x Black Copper = Black Copper
Black Copper x Blue Copper = Black or Blue Copper 50 / 50
Blue Copper x Blue Copper = Blue / Splash /black 50 / 25 / 25

Lisa, just looked at eggcartons.com and they have about any kind of egg carton you would want.
You can go online and get any size of priority box free. usps.com The priority box's come in a box of 25 and they will ship as many as you need free.
The reason I like the three rows of four eggs is there is lots of room inside of the #7 box. Don

I use 2 boxes, as it makes it sturdier. First I use egg cartons (2 bottoms of cartons) lined with bubble wrap. I wrap each egg in 1/2 a paper towel, and put it into the (bottom side) of an egg carton. Then I put the other bottom of the egg carton on top (also lined with bubble wrap), and taped it shut. Put these into a box, packed securely with shredded paper, bubble wrap, grocery store sacks, newspaper, quilt batting, or what ever. Then I put that box into the larger box, and pack it firmly.
I do like Don. I order boxes from the USPS website, and they are delivered to my door. All is free. I also like the egg cartons that are 4 rows of 3 the best for packing.
